FOR a whole generation of Warrington Wolves supporters dreams were answered at Central Park, 30 years ago today.

The Wire defeated Oldham in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Wigan to secure a first trip to Wembley for 15 years.

There were crazy scenes as fans invaded the pitch after the final hooter and chairlifted heroes like Des Drummond and try scorer Martin Crompton off the field.

Mark Forster scored the try that sealed the win, while Rocky Turner kicked a goal in the 10-6 win on an intense afternoon.

The Wire survived a last-minute scare when an Oldham try was ruled out for offside from a kick.

It seemed all of Warrington held its breath for a split second.

The Wire went on to face Wigan at Wembley a month later.
