PARKS in Bolton will reopen to the public, Bolton Council have said.

The local authority announced yesterday all its public parks will be closed to the public in a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Now, following the Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement yesterday evening, all parks will reopen — but a number of restrictions will be in place.

Play area with equipment will be closed along with multi-use games areas, tennis courts and bowling greens.

Car parks will also be shut.

In a post on its website, detailing daily updates about the efforts to combat the coronavirus, Bolton Council stated: "In line with last night’s Government announcement, parks in Bolton have reopened for exercise purposes."

The Prime Minister said he still wants them to be able to visit parks and open spaces as it is 'crucial for health, physical and mental well-being'.

But he added: "But please follow that advice and don't think that fresh air in itself automatically provides some immunity.

"People should still stay two metres apart."
