A LEDBURY woman has launched a new initiative in a bid to help ensure NHS staff have all they need to keep healthy throughout the coronavirus outbreak
Kate Faulkner-Elliott, is hoping supermarkets will give permission for her to set up donation points throughout Herefordshire, so fresh fruit and vegetables can be handed out to healthcare staff.
She said she wants to make sure frontline workers can get the fresh produce they need to keep themselves and their families healthy.
Mrs Faulkner-Elliott was concerned after the recent spate in panic and bulk buying, coupled with NHS staff working very long hours, is leaving little time and few food options for NHS staff.
The idea came after she watched a nurse on the news describe the difficulties she faced keeping her own family healthy.
"I hope this changes peoples habits and they become more mindful about what they need and buy," she added.
"And the aim is to see this rolled out across the country, to NHS staff and hopefully extended to all front line staff."
The boxes of donated good will be delivered to health centres and hospitals under strict hygiene rules.
