A YOUTH charity based in Ledbury has received an £1,000 donation from a housing developer.

Barratt Homes West Midlands, which is currently building homes at Hawk Rise on Leadon Way, provided the donation to Ledbury Youth Activities Support, a charity which is committed to improving the lives of young people in the town.

The organisation currently offers a free, drop-in session two evenings a week at its base on Bye Street, where youngsters are provided with a safe space to relax.

Trustee Robert Yeoman said: "We were delighted when Barratt Homes approached us and offered to provide us with a donation as part of its community fund.

"It will go towards new hoodies for our members, who have already begun creating designs.

"The hoodies will give the group a sense of identity and the young people a feeling of truly being a part of something special.

"The remaining monies will contribute to the cost of outdoor trips we may host in the future.

"It is a very welcome step for businesses to commit to funding projects in the local community and put good intentions into concrete action. Barratt Homes was clearly enthusiastic about doing something positive in the community where they are building, which is a pleasure to see."

Graydon Worthing, sales director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, added: "We are thrilled to have provided Ledbury Youth Activities Support with a donation from our community fund scheme.

"We are committed to creating a positive impact on the surrounding areas in which we build, and are pleased to have been able to contribute to the charity's progression as a group."
