IT sounds like a petrolhead’s dream job - but it could become a reality for one lucky person.

Imagine spending an entire day as a passenger in some of the world’s most expensive cars before reviewing them - and being paid for your efforts.

Swindon-based car dealership Dick Lovett is offering a car connoisseur the chance to become its first supercar critic.

Anyone interested needs to apply by Saturday to be in with the chance of rating a collection of prestige and high-performance cars, which could include McLaren, Bentley, Lamborghini, Pagani, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

The successful applicant will receive £250 for a hard day’s work after spending hours experiencing what it's like when the new and used cars are put through their paces and giving a verdict on their favourites.

There’s plenty of competition for the role - hundreds of people have already applied and the deadline is coming up fast.

Lucy Hawkins from Dick Lovett said: “Dick Lovett, a leading dealership for brands including BMW, Porsche, Aston Martin and more, is currently looking for someone to become our very first supercar critic.

“We decided to go on the hunt for a supercar critic because we wanted to find out just what people think of some of our favourite high-performance cars.

“From the speed and power these cars have, to their comfort and style, we want to know how these features shape up from car to car.

“It’s a great experience for someone to come and see what a real supercar can do.

She told the Adver: “So far, we’ve had 550 applications and the dream job is proving very popular, so if you want to be in with a chance, you better act fast.’”

Entries close on February 29 and the winning passenger will be chosen by the firm and contacted on or before March 4.

The day of riding around and reviewing will be at the Dick Lovett Specialist showroom in Swindon on an agreed date between March and May.
