DEVELOPERS want to build 10 new Victorian-style terraced houses in Hereford.

Applicant Paul Quarrell has submitted plans to Herefordshire Council to build on a roughly rectangular parcel of redundant, perviously developed land on Canal Road.

The plans suggest each two-bedroom property would have a dedicated secure bicycle parking area and a car parking space next to the curtilage.

Each property would also have a further car parking space located within the rear car parking area, plus two visitor car parking spaces.

Architects working on the scheme say the layout has been heavily influenced by the existing development pattern at the southern end of Canal Road, which is characterised by parallel rows of terraced houses addressing the street.

“Both terraces will be modestly scaled and two stories in height, reflective of the scale and proportions of the late Victorian terrace on the opposite side of Canal Road,” the plans say.

Residents have until March 12 to comment on the proposals which county planners are expected to consider by May 5.
