A TALE of danger, imprisonment, love and tragedy will bring the story of Herefordshire's strong affinity with Poland to life in Leominster.
Organised by Leominster Museum, the talk will be presented by Joe Cocker, who, over the past few years, has discovered many unexpected historical links between Poland and Herefordshire.
Joe grew up in Liverpool, but has spent many years in Leominster working in the education sector.
With others, Joe has helped set up the Leominster Polish society and has performed a great deal of research into the Polish presence in Leominster and Herefordshire.
Joe Cocker will explore the latest findings about the extraordinary life of Severin Boleslas Dziewicki, from his part in the famous November uprising in Warsaw in 1830, his eventual escape to England, his marriage to a Herefordshire Quaker and his death in the River Lugg.
Dziewicki is buried in Leominster Priory churchyard.
The talk will be at Leominster Community Centre on February 11, at 7pm. Refreshments will be available. Tickets are £5 on the door (£4.50 for Friends of the Museum).
Leominster museum is currently looking for both trustees and volunteers. If you are interested in either of these interesting roles please drop an email to chairman@leominstermuseum.org.uk
