A lone walker was found by search and rescue teams after she became lost in a remote area of Mid Wales.

Volunteers from North East Wales Search and Rescue were called by North Wales Police to the hills between Lake Vyrnwy and Bala on Saturday afternoon.

The woman was unable to find her way following an "extensive day out".

Rescue teams, including one on stand-by from Aberdyfi, were able to find her using phone technology.

County Times:

North East Wales Search and Rescue said on Facebook: "Due to the time it would take to reach her by road our First Responder encouraged her to continue to try to make some progress, so she didn’t get any colder.

"Four team members then went in one Landrover to intercept her, while our First Responder remained in contact by phone, confirming her location periodically.

"Once the team members located her she was given a check over by one of our Casualty Carers."

The walker was able to drive herself home following the rescue.
