A NEW initiative seeking to help people in Warrington find work launches this week.

The Job Club is a free, eight-week course for anyone who is trying to find work and wants some support.

It is offered by King’s Church Warrington, in partnership with national charity Christians Against Poverty.

It will offer practical help and advice on gaining employment, such as help with CV and application writing.

Computers are available for job seekers to use and refreshments will be provided, as well as a team to offer support and advice.

The Job Club is about much more than just finding work, it also aims to help members through some of the difficulties that come with unemployment, aiming to boost self esteem and confidence as well as providing a safe, relaxed and friendly community that supports job seekers, no matter their circumstances or how long they’ve been unemployed.

There is no requirement for people to be Christian to join the Job Club.

Laura Scotland, who leads the Job Club, said: "Job club is open to everyone.

"As a church we recognise that there is a huge amount of need in Warrington that arises from people being unemployed.

"Not just the practical stuff, but everything that comes along with being unemployed or struggling to find work.

"Job Club is all about serving the community in a really practical way, but also about showing people that they have value, something that joblessness can sometimes strip away."

Job Club starts on Tuesday, January 21 at 7pm at King’s Community Centre in Great Sankey.
