Herefordshire Council has arranged a flood drop-in session for people affected by flooding in the north of the county.

Following recent flooding, the council has organised a number of drop-in sessions to provide advice, guidance and support prior to residents and businesses in the Holme Lacy, Greyfriars and Ewyas Harold and Pontrilas areas.

The session for people in north Herefordshire will be held at Leominster Library on Thursday, January 16, 3.30pm-6.30pm.

Coun John Harrington, cabinet member for infrastructure and transport, said: “The flooding events over recent months have been very difficult and we are determined to provide all the help and support we can for the people affected.

"The response from our partner organisations and local people has been extraordinary, and showcases the strength and community spirit that characterises Herefordshire.

“Our recent drop-in sessions were very well-attended and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, but there is plenty of work still to do – both to help our local communities and economy to rebuild, and to strengthen our resilience for future flood events.

"This effort will continue at our Leominster session.

“I ask that local people please take the chance to drop-in and talk to the council and our partner organisations.

"You can provide a vital contribution to our county’s flood resilience by sharing your experiences and ideas.

“If you can’t make it, please do get in touch either via our website or by contacting your local ward member, and I strongly encourage anybody who has been affected by flooding to look into the support that is available.”

Support available includes community flood recovery grants worth £500 to each affected household, as well as business flood recovery grants and council tax and business rate reductions.
