LEOMINSTER in Bloom is looking for support going into the new year as it reflects on 2019.

Leominster in Bloom looks back over the year and reflects proudly on their achievements. The town looked lovely in spring with colourful planters in abundance, the colours and choice of plants better than ever.

The Buttercross was transformed with the Alice in Wonderland theme. The Inner Wheel and many people were involved with crafting, assembling and erecting this display.

Nearly all of the local schools from Nursery to Earl Mortimer took part in the project displaying artwork. Morris Mews was used for the first time by local children's groups with a wonderful Under Water environmental theme and Leominster Town Council played a huge part in helping to keep the plants watered and brighten the town.

Leominster in Bloom engaged with groups such as the Venture Scouts working on Co op carpark and other areas.

Stuff She Does ladies and S & A Produce workers helped with street cleaning, and the whole town noticed the improvements made.

Sponsorship from shops and businesses played a vital role to the project and Leominster in Bloom thank them most sincerely for their support. Raising funds with supermarket collections and a well supported annual plant and craft fair In May. Receiving the Queens Award for Voluntary Services, what an honour for Leominster and a GOLD award for the second year running from Heart of England in Bloom judges.

Looking forward to 2020 the fund raising has began at Small Business Saturday and The Victorian Market, as well as a collection at Morrison's, the work never stops.

The 2020 theme for the Buttercross will be "Wool in Leominster", drawing on our heritage of the Ryeland sheep trade.

The local schools will be joining in with creative and gardening projects and Eaton Barn and Bupa Residential Home will again be entertaining the "In your neighbourhood " class once again.

Leominster in Bloom are always actively looking for more volunteers to help with the exiting 2020 projects. Can you help in any way? If you can either join in some of our working days or have other skills or even just a little time you can donate please call into the Tourist Information Centre and speak to Gill who will be able to provide more information.
