HEREFORDSHIRE Council is offering funding to support short break activities for children with disabilities.

Community and voluntary groups, organisations and town and parish councils are invited to apply for one-off grant funding from £5,000 to improve access to short break activities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities living in Herefordshire.

Herefordshire Council has set aside £118,000 of capital funding to support new and existing projects.

The funding can be used to improve buildings, facilities, transport or equipment or anything else that will result in improved provision of short breaks for children and young people and their families.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence that they can match fund 20 per cent of the funding awarded, and must be able to demonstrate commitment to the ongoing provision of inclusive activities for disabled children and young people and also demonstrate the ongoing sustainability of their project.

Applications will be assessed by an independent appraisal panel and their recommendations will be presented to the council for approval.

The appraisal will consider fair distribution across the county, to ensure that as many children and young people with disabilities benefit from the funding as possible.
