A DISTRACTION thief has struck again in Herefordshire this morning.

Police in Ledbury said an elderly couple were targeted by a woman posing as a charity worker in St Katherine's car park, Ledbury, earlier today.

The couple then realised that £60 had been stolen from them. Police conducted a search of the area, but found no trace of the thief or the money.

They are keen to speak to the pictured woman, who may have information relating to a number of incidents across the county.

Following the spate of incidents across the county PC Liam Green, of Ross on Wye said: “We are still keen to talk to the lady in the CCTV image as we believe she may have information regarding incidents in Ross on Wye. We have released a second image in the hope of someone recognising her.

“Genuine charity collectors will carry identification, charity collecting tins and will not ask the person donating for ID. I’d like to urge people to be vigilant if they are approached and asked to donate money.”

Anyone who may have information that could be connected to the thefts is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 0266S 021219.
