MEMBERS of Warrington Youth Club (WYC) have been invited to a prestigious awards ceremony to perform in front of celebrities and Prince Harry.

WYC members will take to the stage in front of thousands of young people from across the OnSide Youth Zone network as well as world-renowned artists John Newman, The Script and Ms Banks at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The OnSide Youth Zones Awards recognise the exceptional achievements from Youth Zones across the country, which help support young people with advice and activities.

Nominees from WYC have been shortlisted in four awards including the Arts Award, Sport Award, Onside Believe and Achieve Award and the Health and Wellbeing Award.

The NCS Summer 2019 Group has also been nominated for its initiative, Healthy Habits, aiming to improve the physical and mental health of Warrington residents.

Dave McNicholl, chief executive at WYC in Great Sankey, said: "We are thrilled to be part of such a dynamic network as OnSide who are providing this incredible opportunity for 100 young people from across Warrington and nearly 5,000 young people from across the country.

"Alongside the incredible entertainment, some of the children and young people from across the network will receive a recognition award for the contribution they make to their community, which will be completely inspiring."

Kathryn Morley, chief executive at OnSide Youth Zones, said: "We’re incredibly excited to hold our first annual OnSide Awards ceremony and recognise the amazing achievements of young people from across the country.

"It will be fantastic to see members perform on the same stage as extremely successful artists and it will hopefully inspire young people to continue to follow their dreams and go on to achieve great things.

"We’re looking forward to what is going to be a remarkable evening hearing some truly inspirational stories and seeing some magnificent performances."

The evening will include performances from up-and-coming artist Yizzy, a 25-piece orchestra and is hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenter Dev Griffin and Capital Breakfast Show host, Vick Hope.
