AN ICONIC Hereford bull which sat above a doorway in the city for 30 years has been given a new lease of life.

The bull statue, which could be seen above the entrance to Hereford Cattle Society, was taken down after being damaged by a lorry in June.

Laura Bowyer, marketing manager for the society, said: "At first we thought it was storm damage. Since, we discovered evidence that the plinth and bull were scraped by a lorry.

β€œIt will also of course have experienced general weathering from being there for such a long time.”

The replacement has appeared in its rightful place after work by sculptor Antony Halls and carpenter Martin Dixon.
