A pub has been praised by a popular food guide.

The Old Black Lion in Hay-on-Wye has been singled out for its exceptional service, food and value with a Good Food Award for Gastro Pubs for 2020.

The Good Food Awards recognise a wide range of eateries ranging from chip shops to fine dining restaurants, seeking out the best in their respective fields.

Dolan Lancaster-Leighton, owner of the Old Black Lion, said: “Winning this award has made me really proud, especially as it is decided by votes from our customers, so I’m really grateful to them for their continued support and loyalty.

"I would also like to thank my fantastic team, especially head chef Mark Turton, who has in his first year with us made our restaurant a very special place to eat.
