FLOOD alerts remain in place for Herefordshire today, after further rainfall at the weekend.

An alert is issued by the Environment Agency when flooding is possible, and people should be prepared to deal with it.

The alerts are for:

River Lugg (north of Leominster): Flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads along the Lugg north of Leominster. Places that may be affected include Yarpole, Mortimers Cross, Kingsland and the B4362.

River Lugg (south of Leominster): Flooding is affecting low- lying land and roads along to the Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other places that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop. 

River Wye: Flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads along the Wye from Hay-on-Wye to Ross-on-Wye. Other places that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford.

The Environment Agency is monitoring the situation.

The Met Office is forecasting mainly dry weather for Herefordshire today (Monday) with the occasional light shower this afternoon.

Earlier alerts for the River Arrow, where flooding was affecting low-lying land and roads along the Arrow from Michaelchurch to Brierley, and the River Frome, where flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads along the Frome from Bromyard to Hereford, have now been withdrawn.

But although levels are now beginning to fall, some roads remain under water.

A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said the A438 at Letton has been closed due to flooding.

Fire crews from Eardisley and Leintwardine were called to the road last night  to assist one female driver and her dog to safety after their vehicle became stuck in flood water between Letton and Eardisley.

Watery Lane, in Lower Bullingham has also been closed due to flooding.
