AN UNUSUAL visitor caused a stir when she visited a Herefordshire care home.

Residents at Brockhampton Court gathered outside of the house to meet their VIP guest, nine-year-old Abbey the pony.

And for those unable to meet her outside, Abbey paid a visit to their bedsides!

The very special visit was made possible by Sharon Francis, who swung into action to deliver a resident's wish after receiving a request from staff at the home.

"It was one lady's wish to handle a horse again, and so Abbey went inside to see her," Sharon said.

"She just trotted up the ramps and behaved herself perfectly. She was brilliant, and the elation on the residents' faces was just to die for.

"It was a lovely thing to be able to do - and there were carrots everywhere!"

Andy Allen from Brockhampton Court said: "We have a big thank you to say to Sharon for bringing Abbey to visit. To say some residents were delighted to see Abbey was an understatement!

"We had a big gathering outside and inside the house, but for those who are bed bound, to have Abbey come to their room was very special."
