EARL Mortimer College and Sixth Form Centre was delighted to open its doors to prospective parents recently with new principal, Ms Banner, welcoming everyone in the Community Theatre to share her vision for the future of secondary education in Leominster.
Staff were pleased to welcome parents from not just Leominster but the surrounding villages too - including Wellington, Marden, Kingsland, Eardisland, Orleton, Tenbury and Bredenbury. With some choosing to return again to take advantage of a tour around the college during one of the open mornings.
Visitors were able to visit the classrooms to meet students and staff to share what it is really like to be a student at EMC.
Everything was on show from trampolining in the Street area, to speaking French and German in the MFL Café, to "whizz, pop, bangs" in science, to the First World War trenches in humanities.
You could have played your cards right in maths, sampled some food whipped up by our students in food technology or practised your literacy skills in the Harry Potter classroom with the English faculty.
The activities were not just confined to the classrooms, the corridors were filled with music played by the EMC Orchestra and college band, plus tunes, news and views being aired on the College Radio Station.
Ms Banner, was elated by the overwhelming positive feedback she received from parents as they left, it was certainly a spectacular event in the college's calendar.
