THE Friends of Woolhope Church in association with Music in Quiet Places are delighted to present an organ recital by Michael D'Avanzo ARCO, organ scholar of Holy Trinity, Whitecross.

An ex-chorister of Hereford Cathedral, Michael has been studying the organ for four years with Geraint Bowen.

He achieved his Grade 8 at the end of 2018 and recently passed his ARCO diploma.

Michael is currently the organ scholar of Holy Trinity Church in Whitecross, Hereford, and recently accompanied the choir on a tour of Paris, performing in the American Cathedral.

Concert performances have included Bach's fifth 'Brandenburg' concerto, which he directed from the harpsichord, as well as appearances with the Hereford Cathedral School Senior Chamber Choir as part of the Music in Quiet Places series.

Currently studying for A-levels, Michael is now looking towards university applications to read music, potentially as an organ scholar.

The recital is in the series to mark the completion of the organ repairs and conservation and will be held on Saturday, October 5 at 11am at St George's Church, Woolhope.

Admission is free with a retiring collection and interval refreshments will be served.

Proceeds to Music in Quiet Places and The Friends of Woolhope Church.
