The Hereford Times is calling on drivers to take more care following a dark period for crashes on our roads.
Our #SlowDownStaySafe campaign urges people to reduce their speed following a worrying spate of accidents, some of which ended in tragedy.

It is not yet known if speed was a significant factor in any of the following accidents, nevertheless they serve as a stark reminder that drivers must take great care on Herefordshire's winding rural roads.

Toll of road accidents in Herefordshire since the end of August 2019
- A 21-year-old female motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after a crash that closed the A438 Hereford-Ledbury road at Tarrington
- A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital after a crash with a car on the M50
- A woman was airlifted to hospital after at crash at the junction of the A449 and B4224 near Old Gore, Ross-on-Wye.
- A driver was trapped in a crash between a car and a lorry on the A4113 at Leintwardine.
- Villagers fear drivers are putting children at risk alongside the A44 between Leominster and Bromyard
- Two cars caught fire after crashing on the B4220 near Stony Cross
- A crash between a motorbike and a car blocked the A49 at Hope-under-Dinmore
- Seven people were hurt in a crash on the A44 at Docklow
- A serious accident shut the A49 at Dinmore.
- A motorcyclist and his pillion passenger were killed after coming off their bike in a crash with a tractor on the A465 near Locks Garage, Allensmore.
- A lorry driver was killed in a crash that closed the main road between Bromyard and Worcester. That tragedy brought a call for a review of safety on the A44.
- Two men in a vintage Model A Ford were killed in a crash with an ambulance on the A49 near Ross-on-Wye.
