A PROTEST is planned for Hereford this Friday as campaigners say they will step up their action to tackle the climate emergency.
West Midlands Green Party MEP Ellie Chowns, who lives in Herefordshire, said the protesters are demanding the right to a safe and sustainable future, and that the government pay attention.
The Global Climate Strike in Hereford is one of several taking place in towns and cities across the region.
"Climate change will affect everyone, and it is coming fast," Ms Chowns said.
"We are already seeing more extreme weather, heatwaves and floods in the UK, while people in developing countries are bearing the brunt of the crisis with floods and famine.
"For every day that we avoid meaningful action, the greater those challenges will be."
