ARMED police rushed to a street in Hereford, cordoning off the road for some hours.
One man was arrested after the police operation in Hinton Road in the early hours of Monday morning.
Herefordshire local policing commander Superintendent Sue Thomas later reassured neighbours that firearms incidents in Hereford were extremely rare.
She added: “I would like to thank the local community for understanding our need to close the road for a number of hours during the early morning.”
A man has been charged with possession of firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
David Richard Chatfield, aged 65, of Hinton Road, Hereford, appeared before city magistrates on Tuesday (September 17), where he was remanded in custody to appear before Worcester Crown Court on October 15.
The charge is in connection with the Hinton Road incident.
