COUNTY planners have rejected proposals to build a home and garage in the grounds of a county pub.
Ian Birch had submitted plans to Herefordshire council for permission to build on land at the Castlefield Inn in Clifford near Hay-on-Wye.
But the proposals were rejected because it represented development in open countryside and would diminish the viability of the pub.
They also said that by building a home to the rear of the in would impact on the range of functions that could be run there.
