WITH the support of the national charity Chess in Schools and the Community and the agreement of Herefordshire Council Library Services, the recently founded Leominster Chess Club (LCC) wishes to offer chess lessons to beginners in the Exhibition Room at Leominster Library, starting soon (September/October 2019).
Subject to demand, the general idea is to set up rolling lessons on a weekly (two hours), fortnightly (three hours) or monthly (four hours) basis, either on a Thursday afternoon or a Saturday morning, to which everyone from all generations will be welcome.
The lessons and equipment will be provided free of charge, while small and entirely voluntary donations to help cover the low cost of room hire would also be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to know more about the game and what it has to offer that might appeal to you (there are several transferable skills involved), do come along to an opening session and then decide after that if you would like to get yourself up to 'novice' standard.
