This year Dolau WI is 70 years old and they are holding a party for all former members on October 12 in Dolau Community Hall.

In July Dolau invited other WIs and friends along to hear Andrew Wyton talk about Gardens Past and Present and share in a buffet supper afterwards.

The August meeting was in the form of an outing to the Sir Sidney Nolan Trust at the Rodd.

Members and friends were greeted by Andrew Craven the director who took everyone around the Rodd, a 17th century house, home to UK home to Sir Sidney Nolan and family, with the history of the house before the Nolans bought it.

And then onto visit the gallery, showing an exhibition of of the famous Australian painter's Ned Kelly picture and prints, and finally Sir Sidney's Studio, left as it was the day he died.

Andrew explained the recent formation of the Trust and the plans for the future.

This was followed by a four course Spanish supper in Presteigne cooked by Leon from the Salty Dog, who had previously done a demonstration at a WI meeting in Dolau.

On September 4 the talk is on Burton House, Llandegley and on October 2 a talk from Lt Commander Paddy O'Kennedy on his time in Israel.
