A CHARITY petanque event raised hundreds of pounds for a Herefordshire charity.
Hereford Petanque Club and the Marches Petanque League held the charity fundraising event at the weekend in a bid to raise money for the Born Sleeping Appeal.
The maximum number of 20 pairs from around the midlands entered and three knock-out groups of bronze, silver and gold were formed.
Local players Frankie and Mat Taylor won the Bronze, while David Mason and Maurice Rendell from Kenilworth took the silver, beating Paula David and Jeff Rand from Whitnash.
The main title was won by local players Roy Wilkes and Bill Wood, who beat Shrewsbury's Phil and Julia Price by the closest possible margin of 13-12.
The event raised over £300 for the Appeal and the Marches running total is now over £450.
