DOWN on the Farm music festival returned to the Golden Valley for its eighth year last weekend.

Starting as a one day event in 2012, organisers quickly expanded into a three-day festival, which was headlined this year by Doctor and the Medics.

The British glam rock band were formed in London in 1981, and are best known for their cover of Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" which topped the UK singles chart.

Held at Gwatkin Cider in Abbeydore, Down on the Farm aims to give local bands the opportunity to play live on stage alongside more established names on the live music circuit.

Other bands to play on one of the two stages included the Ramonas, the UK's all-girl tribute to the Ramones and John Coghlans Quo, where the original drummer from Status Quo performs some of their greatest hits.
