LAKEFEST became 'mudfest' when heavy showers turned the green fields outside Eastnor Castle a totally different colour.

But despite the challenging conditions, the thousands who turned up to the site near Ledbury still had a great time, writes Olivia Hutton.

Organisers said it was their biggest and most successful year so far, with record attendance and biggest bands.

The festival, now in its eighth year, welcomed headliners Kaiser Chiefs, Happy Mondays and James.

And there was notable support from others including The Pigeon Detectives and Sophie Ellis-Bexter.

The four-day event also featured silent discos and the famous BBC Music Introducing stage with some of the hottest new bands from across the country.
