Babar Café, Union Street
A friendly, warm cafe bar with a fabulous walled garden serving fresh food and cocktails. 
With events from 5pm Wednesday to Friday and from noon at the weekend, this is one of the best places in the county to listen to live music.
Music events coming up include classic tunes from DJ Ritchie Palmer on August 23, before Live Ska with Dakka Skanks the next day. In September, local musician Ben Magic Johnson is playing his first Sunday session at Babar.

Gordon Bennetts, St Peters St
Another popular Hereford venue, with live bands every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm, and free entry.
Coming up in August 24 are The Forfeits, a four-piece who get any event rocking with their selection of songs from the past 50 years, while regulars Custard Connection bring high-energy dancefloor fillers, bang-up-to-date chart hits, and some heavier rock-outs.

De Koffie Pot, Bridge Street
One of the most popular venues in the city, De Koffie Pot is, on a weekday, a tranquil coffee house overlooking the River Wye, but on a Saturday, it offers an eclectic mix of music - the upcoming Bandstand Beats - The Sunkissed Summer Session on August 10 from 3pm-10pm promise “outdoor Balearic deliciousness”.

Prince of Wales, Ledbury
If it’s something slightly more relaxing that takes your fancy, the Prince of Wales have live music from bands every Sunday afternoon, and on Wednesdays they hold their traditional jamming session with the locals.
Recent artists to perform in the market town include Sue Fear’s band Life, playing songs from the 30s through to the 50s and more, such as swing blues and a little jazz.

The Lichfield Vaults, Hereford
Tucked away in Church Street, The Lichfield Vaults is a welcoming city centre pub a stone’s throw from the cathedral and High Town.

The Globe, Hay-on-Wye
The Globe’s Friday Live slot will be played by a variety of musicians over the coming months, kicking off on Friday with Olivia Fern, an earthy, soulful songstress from The Lake District is quickly emerging in the UK folk and alternative scene. Also coming up are Wicked Splinters (August 16), who have supported Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, alt-J, and Space.
The Globe’s Saturday Shenanigans slot on August 24 will be taken by New City Sound, a house music record label, production and DJ collective.

The Grape Vaults, Leominster
This cosy pub in Leominster dates back to the 17th century and has a warm atmosphere with plenty of character, homemade pub food and real ales. And, at 3pm every Sunday it becomes a music venue, with live acts  - think singer/songwriters and country and blues artists like Simon Knight and Little Dave - performing in the tiny bar room.

The Barrels, Hereford
This pub is an 18th century coaching inn that is formed partly from the old city wall and is one of the last multi-roomed pubs in Hereford.

Golden Cross Inn, Sutton St Nicholas
Since 2007, Friday nights at the Cross have been a destination for music lovers, ranging from a solo artist to bands, and any genre from rock to reggae.
This month will see recently formed glam-rock band The Alley Cats on August 16, with Sons of Yoda the following week. Stepping in at short notice, this four-man band will play a whole host of covers from the 1960s-2000s.
