Cavendish Park recognised for contribution to Evesham

Staff from Cavendish Park care home have been busy getting involved with a plethora of activities and events to make Evesham a better place, which has earned them a spot on the shortlist for the award.

Mark Goodge Mayor of Evesham said: "The Mayor's Community Spirit Award is one that I instituted in my first term as Mayor in 2013/14. The award not only recognises an individual who has contributed to the town but also allows a local organisation to support that through sponsorship of the award. I was very pleased that Cavendish Park was able to sponsor the trophy for the 2019 presentation, and I look forward to a fruitful relationship with them in the future."

Cavendish Park, Offenham Road, Evesham with support from the Evesham Dementia Action Alliance, organised an afternoon event for people living with Dementia as part of the D-day celebrations. Guests enjoyed tea with war time songs. The Evesham Dementia Friendly Community Action Alliance has hosted a number of events this year for people with dementia.

Liz Green Coordinator Evesham Dementia Friendly Community Action Alliance said: "We are grateful for the support and active involvement of team members from Cavendish Park who have also joined our steering committee, showing an ongoing commitment to being one of the many active supporters in the town, all working towards making Evesham and the surrounding area an inclusive place for people living with dementia."

The team have also supported Safehaven – Pet Therapy Farm, a dementia friendly animal assisted therapy farm. Kimberly Golding said: "Dan and his team have volunteered at the farm before we were open to help get things ready, arranged much needed sponsorship and also advised on various issues that we needed to address. The team are actively championing the farm in our local community to raise awareness and let people know we are open for visits."

Staff also volunteered to paint the score box at Evesham Cricket Club which now looks brand new.
