A PLEASANT surprise came to Hereford’s Folly House home for underprivileged children in 1970 when eight youngsters handed over a donation.
The kids, aged from seven to 14, all came from the Belmont and Hunderton areas of the city and had formed a short entertainment group.
In just over a few weeks, they arranged a performance which was presented to friends and relatives at St Martn’s Church.
Although there was no entrance fee, guests were so pleased with what they saw that they put their hands in their pockets. The performers later handed over the £2 collection to the matron of Folly House, Mrs J. Croomer.
