FOR the third year in a row, a Hereford primary school has been awarded for their commitment to the development of competition across the school.

St Paul's CofE Primary School have received the School Games Mark gold award, which, according to the school's PE lead, shows they're doing a good job.

Olivia Major, who also teaches the school's Year 2 class, said: "(The scheme) gives you criteria of what each school needs. Participation, so how many children are involved, competition, workforce and links to local clubs.

"One of those things we've worked hard to get kids involved in. It means we're doing a good job and we're offering kids opportunities."

The government led awards scheme was launched in 2012 to reward schools, and if a school is consistently being awarded gold, they can apply for platinum after five years.
