Anyone with ambitions for a career in the music industry has the chance to get expert advice from insiders at a special event later this month.

Organised and hosted by Cat Park, director of urban music specialists Ten Letter PR, radio and records, there will be insight and advice on how to get in to the industry, how to be heard, seen and supported.

Also offering the low-down on the music biz will be Hardwicke Circus frontman Jonny Foster, indie label owner and music producer Mark Baker, and DJ Nina Case.

The evening is being staged at Eaten By Monsters in Carlisle on July 23, starting at 6.30pm and as well as Q&As, there will also be a chance to network and a DJ set.

Cat lives in Carlisle but has been involved in the music scene for the past 15 years and working in London with some of the big names in grime and urban music.

She said: “With the ever-growing independent music scene, advances in tech and the fact you can basically do anything from anywhere these days, there’s a lot more people creating and looking at ways to get involved in the music scene from our area, which is super exciting.

“In the past I’ve been involved in numerous panels as a guest speaker - for the BBC, BBC Introducing, Women In Music and various other platforms, mainly in London and Birmingham, Manchester and the bigger cities.

“Each time I’ve spoken about my journey, given tips to the audience and generally spoken about all I know to help inspire and share my knowledge for the next wave of talented people.

“There’s not a lot of panels or social events for independent music here in Carlisle or the surrounding area so I have decided to put one on and have invited some local talent to come along and speak with me so we can help inspire and connect like-minded individuals.”
