THANKS to a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority, more than 90 residents of Peterchurch and its surrounding villages met at The Hub at St Peter's on June 28 to enjoy a community supper.
Residents young and old chatted in the evening sunshine, before gathering together to eat, drink and be merry.
After the supper, there was no time for a postprandial lull: a very generous donation from an anonymous supporter saw Cat's Claw Ceilidh Band entertain the assembled throng. Staff at The Hub – a community development project based in St Peter's Church – joined villagers on the dance floor to whirl and reel their way into the night.
As dusk fell and the final notes from Cat's Claw drifted away on the warm breeze, villagers wandered home.
They had caught up with old friends and made new ones…a wonderful way to start a summer's weekend.
