ONE of the country's top fishing lakes is looking to build a new clubhouse and manager's accommodation.

Plans have been submitted to Herefordshire Council for a new building at Kingfisher Trout Fishery, near Bromyard, which is needed as the current clubhouse is said not to be in a suitable condition for a 21st century business.

Mr Darran Wall is seeking planning permission to build the two-story building next to the existing clubhouse and will include a commercial kitchen, modern toilets and manager's accommodation. The applicant said it's needed for the efficient operation of the business, to stop poaching and theft from the lake.

The lake, on Green Lane, was named in Trout Fisherman magazine's top 100 fisheries in 2018.

Residents can make comments on the application until July 18 with planners expected to consider by July 29.
