NOMINATIONS for the best food and drink related businesses that Herefordshire has to offer have started rolling in.

The Community Pub of the Year category celebrates the best pub in Herefordshire, where excellent, locally sourced drinks, well-kept draught beer and a real community atmosphere draws customers.

One of the first nominations to come in for this category is for The Bridge Inn at Kentchurch.

A relatively young venture for landlords Kasia and William Chambers, who took the helm at the pub in February this year, the inn offers a plethora of locally sourced produce.

Landlord William said: "This is our first venture, and we are incredibly excited to be here. We still have fire in our bellies after our first five months of trade, and are eager to work hard to offer our community, and anyone else who walks through our doors, the best food, drinks and service."

With a focus on 'field to fork', the Bridge Inn carries four locally produced real ales from a variety of companies, including Wye Valley, Tudor Brewery and Brecon Brewery.

They also offer a range of ciders from Much Marcle based Weston's, alongside craft cider from Pontrilas producer, Ty Gwyn Cider, and Skenfrith based Apple County Cider Co.

Hill Billy gin, produced in Michaelchurch Escley, and Chase Vodka from Preston Wynne also feature.

"We are blessed by our surroundings, and we would be fools to look elsewhere for what we stock behind the bar," William said.

"We feel it is important for us to play a massive part in our community, and we will be hosting a lot of events through the summer.

"So far, we have held many gigs with local musicians, and our dining room is full of paintings by local artists, from whom we take no commission.

"We are also currently building a pizza oven, and will be offering teaching sessions to local children who want to learn how to make their own pizzas."
