STAFF and children from a Hereford primary school have been emphasising the British values that underpin the school's ethos.
Broadlands primary school celebrated British Values Day on Thursday, June 6 and ensured pupils respected and accepted different faiths and cultures.
Class teacher Sarah Filby said: "British Values underpin the ethos of our school. Understanding the notion of mutual respect and the tolerance and acceptance of all faiths and cultures is something we are passionate about installing into our pupils.
"In addition to this we want our pupils to have an understanding of the rule of law and of democracy as they are our future generation.
"Here at Broadlands we believe that children learn best when they are excited and engaged so we called in some help."
Hereford mayor Kath Hey held an assembly where all children had an opportunity to ask questions about her role and how they could get involved with the council.
Throughout the day pupils and staff took part in a variety of activities, ranging from biscuit decoration to democracy workshops. The day was rounded off with a traditional tea party and revealing the winners of 'The Great Broadlands Bake Off'.
