A FAMILY-RUN Hereford business is trying to raise awareness of a potentially life-saving defibrillator they've installed at their premises.

Wye Cylinder Engineering on Rotherwas Industrial Estate bought the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to go on the wall outside their Mercian House building on Netherwood Road.

The business is now trying to increase awareness of the defibrillator, which is available to everybody 24 hours a day.

The firm's health and safety manager, Nathan Phillips, said: "Our AED is fully automated and gives the user step by step instructions on how to use it. If you perform CPR immediately and use an Automated External Defibrillator within minutes, you can double or triple a person's chance of survival.

"The location of our AED is on our Mercian House building to the right of our reception on Netherwood Road, has clear signage and monitored by CCTV.

"We have registered our AED with Heart Safe and in time it will appear on their map and the information of its location passed onto the 999 emergency services. They can then assist with any help that you may need in using it until the Ambulance service arrives."
