HEREFORD has been revealed as the easiest place in the West Midlands to pass your driving test, new figures show.

Of the 24 test centres in the region, Hereford has the lowest rate of people who take five or more attempts to ditch the L plates.

But the research also shows people who take multiple tests are three times more likely to cause an accident, and over 60 per cent of people who took five or more attempts have had driving convictions.

Birmingham's South Yardley had the highest frequency of multiple testers in the country, with just under five per cent of people taking at least five attempts. This is compared to just over one per cent in Hereford.

Changes to the driving test in 2017 saw the reversing around a corner manoeuvre ditched, but the independent driving element doubled in length to 20 minutes.

The campaign from GoCompare was sourced from government figures, an FOI request and a survey of 2,000 UK adults.
