A Herefordshire girl had a day to remember when she took on the headship at her school.

Twelve-year-old Isabella Smith, who lives in Orcop, was in charge at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep for a day.

She was among three temporarily promoted pupils at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools who each held their own assemblies, led meetings, taught classes at their respective schools, carried out tours, and greeted parents at the gates.

Eleven-year-old Alfie Rayner took the reins at Monmouth School Boys’ Prep, while six-year-old Toby Gavin carried out the role at Monmouth Schools Pre-Prep and Nursery.

The three mini heads united for a mid-morning meeting to discuss how the three schools could work together more often.

The Heads-for-a-Day initiative took place on Wednesday 19th June and proved a wonderful educational experience for the children involved.
