TEAMS enjoyed racing through Kington dashing from pub to pub in a wheelbarrow as part of the north Herefordshire town's festival.

Kington Festival is in full-swing with events running across 10 days. On Sunday, teams took part in the wheelbarrow race on Saturday, dubbed the best night in Kington.

Ollie Hughes and Will Maddy were the fastest men to race around town as David James and Geoff Cooper winning the men's best fancy dress with 'Post Office Express'.

For the ladies, Kington Ladies Hockey Club were chosen as the best fancy dress with 'Noah’s Ark' as judging got underway at 6.30.

There were also awards for Emma Turner, Simon Turner, Steve Caple & Co as 'The Italian Job' as mixed fancy dress winners and they Hedley Simcocks Cup for best overall entertainment went to Sara Amps, Ben Amps and Co as 'who came first; the chicken or the egg?'

Chairman Emma Hancocks said: "The wheelbarrow race is labelled as the best night in Kington and it is something that all of the community comes together and supports.

"It’s a family event and is unique; you really have to see it to believe it. It’s been running for 43 years and becomes more and more popular each year."

Events continue until Sunday, June 23 with a summer music concert on Friday, St. Mary's annual church fete on Saturday before the festival finishes with a festival songs of praise.
