CITIZENS Advice has now officially opened its doors at their new location on Colebrook Street in Winchester.

The charity, which helps thousands of clients each year with issues ranging from benefits advice to debt and consumer problems, has been in the city since 1953.

Their new ground-level location next to Winchester City Council, is more accessible than their previous upstairs office in the Casson Block on St George’s Street and the newly-renovated rental space provides a more welcoming space for clients, volunteers and staff alike.

The service provided by the charity will remain the same, with trained volunteers providing free, independent advice to everyone whatever their issues or circumstances.

Natalie Webb, chief officer of Citizens Advice said: “We’re delighted to have had this wonderful opportunity to work with the city council to move into a new, modern, city centre space. It will be so much more accessible and convenient for our clients.

“As a local, independent charity it is so important that we are visible within the community and remind people of the service that we provide.”

Laura Taylor, chief executive of the city council, said: “Citizens Advice is an essential service within our district and we are proud to support their services. We are delighted to have helped them find a new home in our offices. Having them located next door to us will be of great benefit to everyone.”

Last year Citizens Advice Winchester District helped over 5,000 people, with more than 12,000 different issues. Many of these clients will have seen an adviser face-to-face, while others are helped by phone or online.
