An event will be held aimed at commemorating UK armed forces, past, present and future.
Armed Forces Day will be held in Carlisle city centre on June 29, with stalls and exhibitions in place from 10am onwards in the the town centre. The festivities will be part of a national celebration, recognising the contribution of the armed forces.
Those represented on the day will include: Royal Air Force Spadeadam, Armed Forces Careers, 1862 Squadron (Air Cadets), Cumbria Army Cadet Force, the Cumbria Museum of Military Life and the Royal British Legion.
All money raised will be shared between the three service benevolent funds.
There will also be live music from the Border Concert Band and a Cadet Drill competition at 2pm.
The Mayor of Carlisle, Marilyn Bowman will present a Citation of Appreciation at 3.30pm, which will be received by 2 Battalion, Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
A parade of veterans, serving armed forces personnel, army and Air Cadets units will form up outside Costa in the city centre.
A flag will be raised outside the Old Town Hall on June 24 at noon and fly for the week, before a flag lowering ceremony takes place on June 29 at 3.30pm.
