ONE of the county's leading fire fighters will receive an honour from The Queen.
Martin Stephen Lown is group commander with the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.
And the man from Ross-on-Wye will receive a British Empire Medal for his services to the fire fighters charity.
Mr Lown has taken on treks to Kilimanjaro and Everest base camp for the charity that "rescues the rescuers when they need it most".
Susan Bligh, the Countess of Darnley was another recipient in the Queen's Birthday Honour's List.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire will be invested with the Insignia of a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in recognition of her work in the county.
The awards in the Royal Victorian Order are made personally by the Queen for services to the sovereign.
The Royal Victoria Order was first instituted by Queen Victoria in 1896 to reward personal services performed on her behalf.
Lady Darnley became the county's Lord-Lieutenant in 2008 and was previously a member of the Hereford and Worcester Probation Committee.
