KINGSLAND Church played host to 44 wedding dresses over the Bank Holiday weekend in a fabulous wedding dress exhibition.

The oldest dress on display dated back to 1878 and the youngest dress was worn by a local bride the week before the exhibition took place.

Lisa Juson, who helped organise the event said "We were absolutely thrilled with the support given by all the local brides who wanted to display their special dresses.

"The dresses were amazing and the fabrics, styles and various fashions were evident across the decades."

A total of £947.40 was raised by visitors giving donations, buying raffle tickets and purchasing refreshments.

The money raised will be used to help restore the church as part of the heritage fundraising mission.

Sue Paton, who also organised the event, thanked everyone who supported the event and Rev Julie Read for allowing the church to be used to exhibit the dresses for a great community event.
