You can enjoy an evening of 1940s nostalgia, fun and variety at four different venues this June when the Hereford Gilbert and Sullivan Society brush off their tea dresses and WW2 uniforms and shine up those hits of yesteryear to coincide with the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Sentimental Journey, the first hit of the other D Day, Doris, who died recently, is in the line-up as well as ‘songs that won the war’ by Dame Vera Lynn and The Andrews Sisters as well as some satire from Noel Coward. You can ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’ with a medley from The Wizard of Oz on its 80th anniversary (one of the first films to use Technicolor). And of course there will be plenty of Gilbert and Sullivan favourites and a few surprises in store. Enjoy a trip down memory lane at St John’s Methodist Church, on June 7, St Michael's Church, Ledbury on June 8, The Globe at Hay on June 21 or Eardisley Village Hall on June 22, St Michael’s Church Ledbury (8 June), The Globe at Hay (21 June) or Eardisley Village Hall (22 June). All performances start at 7.30pm, except The Globe, which starts at 8pm. Tickets will be available on the door, or email lucywalden49@gmail.com
