AS a full-time Caretaker at the Larruperz Centre for over 14 years, Les Phillips has tirelessly looked after the many organisations using the facilities.

Counting amongst these is the thriving Ross Bridge Club which holds duplicate bridge sessions on Monday evenings and Friday afternoons.

Being Ross born and bred, Les is well known locally, chiefly for his short-mat bowls and gardening skills.

He has captained the Herefordshire County Indoor Short-Mat Bowls team for nine years, which he will continue do. During this time, he has enjoyed several personal Championship wins.

His gardening skills have also earned him many accolades, particularly for the hanging baskets and flower beds at the Larruperz Centre.

Under his care, these have won 'Ross in Bloom' recognition as well as the appreciation of the various visitors.

As such, it was rather fitting that members of Ross Bridge Club chose to thank him for his past efficiency and cheerful helpfulness with some gardening vouchers for his retirement years.

Ross Bridge Club welcomes visitors to its weekly sessions.

If you've played in the past and now have more time, or would like to learn this fascinating and enjoyable game, please contact the club for further information.
