THE St Michael's Hospice Open Gardens season breaks new ground in May when it hosts its first community gardens event in Kimbolton.
Four gardens will open in the picturesque village near Leominster on Sunday, May 19 from 2pm - 5.30pm.
Rowena Gale, one of the garden owners, has opened her one-acre cottage-style garden at Bachefield House to the National Garden Scheme for the last 10 years, but this is the first time she and her husband, Jim, have taken part in the Open Gardens programme for St Michael's.
They will be joined on the day by three other garden owners in the village.
Visitors will be able to enjoy teas at Kimbolton Village Hall, where there will also be a raffle for St Michael's.
On the same day, Hospice supporter Sue Crooke will be opening her garden at 23 Traherne Close in Lugwardine, just outside Hereford (1pm - 5pm).
Sue has taken part in Open Gardens for many years and her compact patch packs quite a punch with herbaceous borders, small trees and fragrant flowers, plus a secret garden housing three chickens, and a pond featuring a small shoal of Koi Carp.
