LYMM Sanctuary Hub and Business Centre has been overwhelmed by the support of the community during its set-up.

Based next to Lymm Library, the building has undergone major changes during the past few months, with refurbishment being completed in the downstairs community rooms and upstairs offices.

New road signs have also been put in place on Eagle Brow and Brookfield Road, and to make people aware of what is on offer, a preview event was held last month.

This allowed members of the public to visit the hub and chat to staff and volunteers about the community programmes and business support available, with the event was hailed as a big success.

“Lymm’s community spirit has never been as evident as during the set-up of Lymm Sanctuary Hub and Business Centre,” said Kirsty James, owner of Colony Networking who manages Lymm Business Centre.

“We have a long list of local businesses to thank for their support.

“When the project began, I put out a Community SOS and contacted many of my fellow local businesses in the hope of the odd charity discount.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by support and once we’re officially open and can work on further marketing, we intend to formally thank those involved.

“From individuals who have given up personal time to paint and do DIY to businesses who have donated and sponsored essential products and services, a huge big thank you.”

As part of the plans to keep Lymm Library open, a new charity was set up to oversee the delivery of community and business services to the people of Lymm.

Warrington Guardian:

The hub also provides invaluable, affordable and ethical support to local residents and businesses.

All trading profits from the centre will go directly to the Hub to fund its community work and pay rent to LiveWire CIC who manages the Library site.

The opening of the hub also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Sanctuary Café, which offers a calm space for local people to pop in for a coffee and a chat.

But the hub is not resting on its laurels and has exciting plans for the future.

Cheryl Siddall, people, performance and resources director for LiveWire, said: “We are really excited to be working in partnership with Lymm Sanctuary Hub and Business Centre.

“The extended offer from the library site will not only create a hub of activity for the village, it will also prove to be a real asset to local businesses, as well as attracting new users to the library service.”

Activities are already being run out of Lymm Sanctuary Hub such as reading, craft and toddler groups, with further community programmes set to be rolled out soon.

These include positive parenting, affordable counselling services, money management, dementia support and the Memory Café.

This is a regular safe location for those suffering memory loss, with support on offer to family members and carers.
